As if it was not
hard enough to be a woman, we have to be the main targets of
specific cancers that are becoming too close to home. If you are a
white female and are over forty, you start to look into your family
medical history for the kinds of cancers that you might have to deal
with in the future. Breast cancer is of course your most probable
suspect.
The hard thing
about this cancer is that you can’t seem to stray away from it. If
you had a female or even a male relative who had this then you are
at risk. If you have had breast cancer before it won’t give you a
reprieve. You are almost always sure that it might come up again.
You just hope the breast tumors are benign this time around. If you
had your period earlier than the rest then you have a higher risk of
getting it.
Sometimes it makes
you not want to have any children. But the sad part is that if you
don’t have any children before you are thirty then you are also
going to the list of possible patients. If you wanted your cancer
gene to end with your generation, it is quite impossible if you want
to lower your chances by eliminating that factor. But with this
economy, the risk might just be more economical.
If you undergo
combined PHT therapy for any reason, then you might have to be more
careful. It reduces the efficiency of mammograms so you might just
have to be more vigilant or you might catch your cancer at a later
stage than it is curable.
But there are
still ways that you can lower your chances of getting breast cancer.
You need to check your lifestyle. If there is obesity, alcoholism
and stress in it, then you need to rethink some things before you
would have to go through chemotherapy to get back to your buys
schedule.
In most studies if
a woman, even those without a history of cancer of the breast in
their family, work in the night shift and eat unhealthy food as well
as drink in excess, she would be a prime candidate for this kind of
cancer. This is not to say that women should not do what they want
to do as a career and wish to get ahead in it. But it would come
with a severe price.
In order to
prevent this, their primary change should be in the stress
management, they should make sure that they have time to let their
body recover from a hard day’s work. Also, being able to provide a
mental down time for their brain would also increase their chances
of fighting off cancer or any kind of disease for that matter.
Then they should
lay off the fast food joints that they frequent and look into food
that would prevent cancer. Look into greener choices as supposed to
always eating meat or something that passes for edible.
Combining this
with regular exercise would ensure that their body would be
healthier than most. And if their family’s medical history plays
them a bad set then they would have more of themselves to fight off
the lethal end of cancer.
